ReQuest 2021
20th November 2019
Almost 100 years ago, Antarctic Explorer and hero, Sir Ernest Shackleton selected two scouts to join his Quest Expedition in 1921, it was to be his last expedition. Two Scottish Scouts were selected to accompany the expedition, James Marr and Norman Mooney.
The Kent Scouts ReQuest 2021 Project is intending to commemorate this event with a group of ten people travelling to Antarctica in December 2021 and January 2022. The group consists of four scouters over 25 and six Network Scouts - four from Kent and two from Scotland.
To enable this project to take place £110,000 needs to be raised by December 2021, in September 2019 a total of £30,000 has been raised.
We are very pleased that Faversham Network Scout, George Stonor, has been chosen to take part in the expedition. George will be completing an individual project to 3D Iceberg Simulation, a study into their movement once detached from the ice shelf, as well as taking part in a number of joint research projects.
